Sierra II Progress
Sierra has come back home.  :)

People I know think I am nuts, but I found this
Sierra while checking out things for the
BGTRC newsletter.  On May 21, 2005
Trailblazer had a ride for Blaze's Tirbute Equine
Rescue.  While searching their web site I
found this Sierra.  Here is what we know:

Sierra came to Blaze's Tribute on March 9,
2005.  She is estimated to be around 20 years
old.  She was extremely emaciated and in the
worst physical shape that they had seen to
date.  Sierra was advertised in the paper for
$100.  An individual answered that ad and
went to look at the horse.  He couldn't bear to
leave her there in that condition.  (Sound
familur?)  The previous owner had told the
gentleman that purchased her that thier 5 year
old child had been riding her in the pasture.
These are from Blaze's Tribute.  Pictures of Sierra when
she was left in their care.  These were taken 3/10/2005.
Sierra on May 7, 2005 begging to be
with the rest of the horses.
Sierra on May 20, 2005.  She won't stand still to let me
take any good pics, but I will take that as a good sign.  :)

Sierra is now borderline fat.

How could anyone bear to ride a horse in this confition?  The
gentleman purchased this mare and took her to his home.
Shortly after he call Blaze's Tribute.

Blaze's Tribute gave her a new name and hope to give her a
fresh start on her new life.  She had her teeth checked and
shots brougth up to date.

Sierra need lots of TLC and love to bring her back to fine
form.  We just cannot believe that someone would do this to
such a wonderful anumal and look at her daily thinking that
nothing is wrong.  Then allow her to be ridden.

We got the OK to bring Sierra home and picked her up on
April 23, 2005.  I think she had not seen so much grass in a
while.  She is getting spryer by the day and seems very happy.

We will post update pics as we see progress.  We know it will
be a while before we can see more of what she knows.  The
kids ahve ridden her for very short periods of time.  Sierra
know lots and is very willing.

May 14th Sierra got a good bath and grooming.  She still has
some stubborn fur, but is looking very much better.

On May 21st we raised some funds for Blaze's and hope you
visit their website or send in more donations for the horses.  :)

In June Sierra went with us to City Slicker's and showed one
little girl what it meant to trial ride.  :)  They didn't go out long,
but we began to see the true colors of this old girl.  She may
not be a kids horse.  :)

Sierra spent part of the summer going to play days with
Ashley.  Sierra is pretty competitive.  She knows what to do
an how to do it.  She is starting to put on muscle and
developing well.

I will try to get pictures this winter of Sierra.  She is
borderline fat.  Not a bad thing, but we will watch her and
make sure she stays in shape with the litte bit of riding she
gets now.  Rick rode fences on her at Christmas and she took
him to see fences he hadn't seen in a while.

Jan. 1, 2006 Sierra went to live with Val and Chuck Martin.
She is having a blast riding Val's grankids around the pasture
and giving the geldings a thrill.  She still looks great and is
having a great time.

In Jan. 2006 Sierra went to live with a BG and had a
wonderful time teaching her grandkids to ride.  Sierra even
helped her get over her fear to ride.  But a job loss brought
Sierra back home in Spring of 2007.  But not for long.  Sierra
and Cowboy Dan are back together and having a blast.  We
will post pictures of them and the new owners soon.

We hope you will continue to keep Sierra and Cowboy Dan in
your prayers.  Click on his name to see his page.
