Argo is a 1995 model palomino grade mare. She is 15 hands and about 1200 pounds. Argo was bred on the Allen Ranch near Bixby and has a mixture of QH and Belgian in her breeding. She is a very easy keeper and tends to get barrel shaped on just the grass pasture. That is why she wears the grazing muzzle all summer to keep her where you can put a saddle on her.
Argo has many trail miles. She is "the" perfect horse for everyone who rides her. She is truly a four-hoof drive machine when going in the mountains. Even a stage 5 jeep hill that few jeeps and even fewer horses have traversed. She has crossed, gone up, and down most anything. If she doesn't cross it there is a safety reason why. The one time we sent her to a trainer he tried to buy her. She did everything he asked. Every cowboy that has gotten on her wanted her.
She is even pictured in the March/April 2000 Trial Rider magazine on page 58. We were at the opening weekend of Horse Heaven Ranch and Elena was riding her. Elena is shown on her below at the top of the mountain we climbed that day. Getting to the top even involved going up and down rock stairs that she did perfectly.
We have too many horses as you can see from the other pages. Even though I hate to sell her, she needs to go somewhere that she can work. I truly believe that every horse needs a job. She will load, loves water and baths, stand for the shoer and is easily caught. She is up to date on shots and worming. She is very intelligent. Argo is stout enough for any weight rider. You will definitely not have to worry about being "underhorsed" if you are a little heavy and the hills are a little steeper than usual.
$3000 or best offer. Must go to an approved home. If you make a match then we will discuss the money.
Update: Argo met her match. Amanda McClaran is the perfect person for Argo. And Argo the perfect horse. Amanda rode Argo the first time and came back to camp telling me she didn't care how much she was buying her. We worked a deal and they have been happy ever since. Amanda is pampering Argo and Argo is liking being one of a fewer herd. They have been learning to ride each othe and having a great time doing it. Amanda's family is getting tired of hearing about Argo for sure. :) Below are pictures of Amanda and Argo going riding at Lake Carl Blackwell on Jan. 6, 2007.
